At a recent meeting, we update dthe attendees on all that has been going on in Lancashire Golf since unification. To see the slidesshow from the presentation, please click here.
As you will see from the presentation, we recapped on the club survey, carried out shortly after unification, which has guided our actions since then and will continue to do so into the immediate future.
We recently delivered a membership recruitment and retention seminar, which had presentations from England Golf on recruitment, Aquila on social media targetted marketing, Eddie Bullock consulting on membership retention, and a presentation of a new initiative using shorter tees on course to enhance the playing experience. If any of our clubs would like further details on this, please contact the office. A recently published article in Golf Monthly on the subject can be viewed here:
Article on enhancing the playing experience
All attendess have been encouraged to put into place some key actions following the seminar, along with ways to measure their success, and we, as a county, will provide further support if they do this in consultation with us. Our aim is to support our clubs as best we can, so encouraging action following a learning experience is something we feel important.
We will be delivering a second seminar in March on the subject of sustainability and water management, which will also be free for clubs to attend.
Our development centres is a project we feel very strongly about, with the aim being to get more people playing the game in the county. This is not just juniors, but also adults, which has the biggest financial impact for clubs. We aim to facilitate partner clubs who are local to the centre who agree to best practice on new member enquiries and the member onboarding process, offering an easy pathway into membership.
Parity is very important to us as a unified county, and we are pleased to report that we have achieved that in regard to the girls and boys development programmes. The teams are also supported equally for coaching resource, and the championships will be supported by the county to the same level.
There are lots of other activies going on, and the list was expanded upon significantly at the meeting. We have also moved forward our strategic planning in each of our five key pillars, and we are excitied for potential further developments in the future, with helping and supporting our clubs at the heart of this.
Our annual dinner and awards was a great success and gave us an opportunity to recognise and showcase all of the fantastic things people in the county are doing, ranging from coaching stroke rehabilitation victims and poeple suffering from Parkinsons, to others who have led their clubs to engage with local communities and encouraged significant social and community benefit. Really well done to everyone and we hope you wil share more amazing stories with us for things that happened in 2025, in readiness for next years awards, so we can recognise this and inspire others.
As you will see, there are a very wide variety of things happening, and if you have seen anything you are interested in, please contact us, as we are always looking for people to volunteer and help, in all areas. If you feel you would like to participate in some way, please contact us in the office and we will be delighted to discuss the various ways you might be able to get involved and assist. It is very rewarding and an opportunity to make a positive impact.
Thank you.
