The morning foursomes was tightly poised, with Lancashire taking a lead at lunchtime of 4-2. The match was played away, at Rotherham GC, with big crowds supporting the home team. Yorkshire came out after lunch all guns blazing and we ahead at one stage in most games, with the leaderboard a sea of blue. Lancashire's resiliance was vital and all the team fought hard to get every single point they could, turning a number of matches around. It all came down to James Nash, our 2023 County Champion, who was one up on the last hole, in the last match. Both players found trouble off the tee and James hit a fantastic chip shot from thirty yards to a foot, to seal the first victory since 2018.
Well done to Team Lancashire! Keep it going.
The team has now won the first two games of the season against Cheshire and Yorkshire, so with three games left to play, home to Durham, then away to Northumberland and Cumbria, with the national county finals qualifier at Ulverston on the 7th August.
