Lancashire Golfers
James Robinson (Southport & Ainsdale), a member of the England 'A' squad upstaged an international field to win the 2009 Lytham Trophy at Royal Lytham & St.Annes. Fellow county player Jack Senior (Heysham) was third some three strokes behind. Senior had led the way the previous week when he finished runner up in the West of England Stroke Play Championship at Saunton finishing on 288 - one stroke behind the winner Darren Wright. Lancashire claimed four top ten places in this event with Matthew Nixon (Ashton under Lyne) third, John Hurst (Shaw Hill) fourth and Sam Stuart (St.Annes Old Links) sixth.
Earlier in April David Corsby (Royal Lytham & St.Annes) won the prestigious West of Ireland Championship at County Sligo (Rosses Point). David beat Irish International and holder Shane Lowry at the 19th hole in a sudden death play off.
